Beryl received an enormous amount of fan mail from people of all ages from all over the world. This meant a great deal to her and with the help of John she put a lot of time and effort in trying to reply to all of them, and in most cases managed to do so personally.
Several people wrote to tell her that when in difficult times, either through ill health or bereavement, that coming across one of her images made them laugh again and helped them recover a sense of fun. Beryl found this type of letter very touching, as did all our family, and this factor alone was sufficient to make all her artistic endeavours worthwhile.
It gave her great pleasure to receive a lot of letters telling her that her art had inspired the writers to have a go themselves. Often people would send her samples of the artworks that they`d been inspired to try. One of the things that really pleased her was that several schools got their young students to do art projects based on some of her paintings and then to write to her afterwards. Below you can read samples of some of these charming letters she received from schoolchildren.
